What this is & post #1

So I have had many requests from friends back home to stay in touch and to let them know how I am doing out here in New York. I have obviously failed at this task the past month. Between my class load and my swim schedule I have very little time and I have been using in mostly to sleep.

That is why I created this blog. So that I can keep you all up to date with what I am up to in New York and I don't have to send a few hundred emails to do so.

So today marks the end of my fourth week here at Stony Brook. I have settled in pretty well. It isn't home but it is an acceptable substitute for the time being. In terms of exciting fun things I am sad to say I don't have much to share. Two Fridays ago (the 19th) I went to one town up to Port Jefferson with the scholars group I am in. Port Jeff is right on Long Island sound so I got to see water which was a mixed blessing. Lets just say that I am in no rush to swim in the sound. I'm not sure how much of it is actually water as opposed to sewage. However it was a lovely evening. I walked along the docks for a bit with some other SBU students and admired some very large boats. We then ate at a Seafood restaurant that was right on the water. This was a very much welcome meal. The food here at SBU leaves much to be desired, like any nutritional value. The meal was great and during my wanderings I discovered a tea shop which was very exciting.

Other than that I have no more exciting adventure stories. I have the next two days off from classes so I might take advantage of that to visit the beach. If you have any questions or want to hear about specific things just leave a comment. I will make no promises as to the regularity of this blog but if it has been a while just send me a message telling me to get my butt in gear.

I miss you guys!!

Ian

no more exciting stuff? hm, how about we throw in a few things to make your first four weeks on long island seem a lil more exhilarating like...

- ben parker ending up in the hospital after falling down the kelly hill off his skateboard.

- swim house insanity... 'nuff said.

- intense game of ultimate frisbee in the mud + sprinklers.

- late-night dominoes.

- amazing professors like Fernando Raineri and Susan Ester (who, by the way, has a voice that's a mix of Lois from Family Guy and Kitty from That 70's Show - AMAZING)

... now your Coloradians can truly understand how amazing your stay at SBU has been so far!

Aw, I miss you too! :P Yay for blogging on the web-web. Call me some time when you have the time! :P I apparently miss the verbal abuse that you dish out so freely.

This is Katie by the way....:P Konishi, in case you know more than one Katie (though I'm sure I'm your favorite). Oh btw, found any Megans or Carries yet? Since you only date girls with the name Megan or Carrie.... :P

Greetings from Tibet my enlightened friend!

While I was meditating the other day, I could feel your zen and inner tranquility from across the world. Isn't that crazy?!?!? I hope the tea package I sent you is delicious and full of peace and love!

You are in my prayers always!
